Thomas Wiese


Thomas Wiese is a board-certified Paediatric Psychiatrist with a 15-year career in drug development, clinical research, and clinical care. He has experience in translational medicine and has held escalating roles in clinical development, with expertise in designing, planning, and executing programs throughout the development cycle, from Phase 1 to Phase 3. He has experience across diverse neuroscience indications including Autism, Angelman Syndrome, Rare Genetic Epilepsies, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and Huntington's Disease.


Currently, Thomas Wiese serves as the Principal Medical Director and Clinical Expert Team Leader at F. Hoffmann-La Roche in the early clinical development group. Over the past three years, he has led translational medicine teams focusing on Autism, Angelman Syndrome, and rare genetic epilepsies.

Prior to joining Roche in 2016, he worked at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital Zurich.

He holds a postgraduate psychotherapy degree in cognitive behavioral, system, and family therapy from the Institute for Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence at the Universities of Basel, Bern, and Zurich. He also holds an MD in Medicine from the Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany.
