Rudolf Blankart
Rudolf Blankart is Professor of Regulatory Affairs at the KPM Center for Public Management at the University of Bern and Director Promoting Services at sitem-insel, a public-private partnership in the field of translational medicine. As president of the Swiss Round Table on Antibiotics, he leads a multidisciplinary advocacy organization focused on promoting policy measures to support the development of antimicrobial technologies and ensure their availability in Switzerland.
Dr. Blankart holds an interdisciplinary educational background with a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin (Dipl.-Ing.) and a doctorate from Universität Hamburg (Dr. rer. pol.). He gained international experience as a visiting researcher at the Centre for Health Policy at Imperial College London and, as a Harkness Fellow, at the Brown University School of Public Health. He is also a Sciana Fellow.
His research focuses on the intersection of medicine, management, and law, with particular emphasis on regulatory and reimbursement frameworks for medicinal products and medical devices. His work aims to improve the pathway from idea to patient, an approach particularly relevant to the challenges in developing new antimicrobial therapies. In addition to his research and teaching activities, Dr. Blankart serves as a policy expert for national and international organizations on health system design.
