Research areas
Gilles Allali's field of research is the study of the relationship between motor functions and cognitive abilities, particularly gait control, as well as the study of pathological aging. Within the framework of international collaborations, Gilles Allali has identified clinico-biological markers of pathological aging which have led to improved identification of patients at risk of dementia. Thanks to the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation, his work has led to improved identification of reversible dementia, in particular normal pressure hydrocephalus. As a Head of the Leenaards Memory Center, he drives a research program capitalizing on the unique CLEMENS and ROMENS registries to refine the diagnosis of neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular dementias using multimodal biological and neuroimaging markers.
National and International Collaborations
Since 2013: collaboration to the Biomathics Consortium (international consortium on aging)
Since 2015: collaboration to GAIT initiative (international consortium on cognitive and motor aging)
Since 2013: collaboration to the MCR consortium (international consortium aiming to identify the motoric cognitive risk syndrome – a new predementia syndrome
Since 2021: collaboration of the ROMENS consortium (national consortium of memory clinics in Switzerland)
